Fox is Appalled at Leaked Letter
A government letter which has found its way into the hands of a top UK newspaper has indicated that defence secretary Liam Fox has implored Prime Minister David Cameron to think again about the expected defence cuts proposed for Britain’s military.
Fox himself has also previously written to the Prime Minister in private regarding this situation, indicating that Britain would be leaving itself vulnerable to yet unidentified threats if the cuts were made.
The recent meeting between the Prime Minister and the National Security Council approved the ‘Adaptable Britain’ status which in itself indicates that it is impossible to determine what international security scenarios exist or potentially could be raised at anytime.
It is reported the leaked letter goes on to mention to disadvantages of cutting costs in military shipping, aerospace and grounds forces programmes as well as the disadvantages in the reduction of exceptional services that are required when other civil services strike, such as fire fighting and the fuel shortage scenarios that have occurred, requiring the military to step in.
The letter was given to the Daily Telegraph and it is reported that Liam Fox is appalled that this private correspondence has been leaked.
