National Supply Chain Groups Programme Supplier of the Year 2007
G&O were invited to take part in the National Supply Chain Groups Programme by Goodrich Engine Control Systems. G & O Springs were lucky enough to win the prestigous title of ‘Supplier of the Year 2007′
MD Steve Boyd says, ‘This award means the world to us. It punctuates what we have already acheived through the Supply Chain Groups Programme, validates the decisions weve made, and spurs us on to make further improvements. The programme itself has been fantastic. It has benefitted us in so many ways. Our Lean improvements started with us Value Stream Mapping our entire process, thsi then enabled us to implement various KANBAN Systems with strategic inventory points along the process. This not only increased throughput but reduced both lead times and work in progress. We have introduced internal KPIs and our OTIF has risen from 70% to 95%-plus. We now have six employees trained in NVQ Level 2 Business Improvement Techniques who are helping to sustain changes throughout the business, we set aside Friday afternoons for continuous improvement. The process has transformed the company and changed a lot of attitudes. Its an everyday thing now. We could couldnt have done this without the expert help of the Supply Chain Groups programme’.
