La passivazione è un processo che crea un film di austenite sulla superficie dell'acciaio inossidabile che migliora notevolmente le prestazioni anticorrosione. Per i materiali come AMS5678, questo processo è fondamentale. Un aspetto importante da sottolineare è il fatto che eventuali strati di sapone presente sul filo, incrostazioni dovute al trattamento termico o appannature devono essere accuratamente rimossi prima di eseguire prove non distruttive o la passivazione, per garantire l'efficacia del processo. G&O effettua una pulizia preliminare conforme alla norma ASTM A380 e possiede l'approvazione NADCAP per il Metodo 1 tipo 7 e 8 (naturalmente conformi REACH).
